Album Review: Inhale Exhale - I Swear

inhaleexhale-iswear.jpg

Inhale Exhale have been a favourite scream-core band of mine for a while. When Underoath had worn the record player down I needed something new. A friends introduced me to them and I have to say what a great listen they are.

Their new album is Inhale Exhale.

What's new?

Better production. Much more dirt and a natural analog feel to it. The polish is off it a bit, which is nice. The vocal sit in the mix nicely and the balance is about right for this style of music.

Are Church worship bands playing the wrong tune?

Church music is changing, has changed and will continue to change. What brought about the massive change in the last decade I will never know but I am worried we might be taking it a bit far.

Worship is less worship and more rock concert these days. Is this a requirement to stay relevant to young people. Are the lights, the cameras and the action really all necessary?

The first 5 challenges of having a 'Global' Church

global-1.jpg

I have been to a few large influential Churches now. Some larger than others, some not so large. I think the smallest Church I have attended for any length of time was about 20 people. The largest is far and above that.

There are a few challenges I have noticed with having a large Church with Global influence.

Christian Counselling...why in Secret?

secret.jpg

I have just read an interesting article in Christianity, June Edition. It talks of the plight of Christians needing help and not receiving it due to misconceptions around the need for 'proper' counseling and psychological support.
It seems there are still people in the world who believe that needing anything more than prayers and a cup of tea is going to far. Until you have been to the edge of any emotional, psychological struggles you will not appreciate the need for 'professional' help in various areas.

There are four general therapies in Christian Counseling.

The football Premiership and the modern Church...is there a difference?

For some reason I watched the last 30 minutes of the Chelsea and Manchester United soccer (football) game last night. This is something I never do. I don't watch football. I came away feeling like I had just experienced something similar to a mega church experience. On more thought I considered whether this was healthy. The football of the world has changed.

Confusing Excellence with Success

Arete (Greek: ἀρετή; pronounced /ˈærəteɪ/ in English) in its basic sense means "goodness", "excellence" or "virtue" of any kind.

We had a meeting with a small group this week and the topic of Success came up. So many churches preaching that you can be a success. The result of such preaching was express by the group with interesting feedback.
